How VaultBox Works

Authenticated and Graded by NGC

Authenticated and Graded by NGC

VaultBox carefully selects coins for each Series with special consideration for a coin’s rarity, appearance, value, and historical significance.

Once VaultBox has acquired the coins, they send the coins to NGC, the world’s preeminent coin grading service.

Every coin in your VaultBox is authenticated by NGC. Then each VaultBox coin is graded using either NGC’s 70-point Sheldon Scale, or in some cases are instead submitted through NGCX, a revolutionary new service that grades coins on a 10-point scale, similar to existing grading systems for sports cards, trading card games, and comic books.

Once graded, coins are encapsulated in protective holders called Slabs, then separated into different Value Groups: Common, Uncommon, or Rare. The boxes are packaged at NGC following a system to ensure that each box has a coin from each of the Value Groups. The system is designed so that there may be different types and/or price points of coins within the groups, but no box will contain only the lowest value coins. Future Series may contain different Value Groups as well as different quantities of coins per box.

The boxes are sealed at NGC and aren’t numbered individually before sending to VaultBox where the orders are filled.

VaultBox Series

All VaultBox coins are released in a collection, called a “Series.” When designing each VaultBox Series, we consider many different factors, including the number of coins in each box, the total number of coins in the entire Series, overall Series value, variety of the coins available, and most importantly whether each coin is FUN and INTERESTING!
