Major Chase: The 1792 Half Disme
The first coin ever struck under the authority of Congress. What could be more important than that?
It is estimated only 1500 of these coins were made, with fewer than 400 surviving today and most of those locked up in museums or personal collections. Perhaps even more impressive, Thomas Jefferson himself was heavily involved in the making of this coin, depositing the silver used to make these coins and picking up the entire order once ready.
This coin is a monster – and it’s in an APEX box.
Pioneer Gold
Before Denver had a federal mint, it had Clark, Gruber & Co. – a private firm that struck its own gold coins from Pike’s Peak gold right in the heart of Colorado Territory. Their reputation was so strong that the federal government eventually acquired their operation, which evolved into the Denver Mint that operates today.
Any example above MS62 is a real rarity – making the MS63 example in this release not just a piece of the American frontier, but one of the finest pieces existing today.
